General Information

Fırat University Faculty of Health Sciences Midwifery Department; continued its education, training and academic activities within the “Elazığ Health College” until 2015. Since September 2015, it has continued as the “Midwifery Department” within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION

The educational activities of our Midwifery Department are carried out at the undergraduate level. In our department, where the language of education is Turkish, internships can be done in most of the health institutions in our province. Undergraduate education includes theoretical and practical courses on the basic areas of midwifery. The education program is organized in accordance with the international European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) standards and the Bologna harmonization process. Students can benefit from MEVLANA, ERASMUS and FARABI programs.

PROGRAM EDUCATION OBJECTIVES

To train midwives who are equipped to provide holistic care for mothers, babies and families from pre-pregnancy to post-natal care during the midwifery process, who can effectively use critical thinking, problem solving and evidence-based decision-making skills while fulfilling their professional responsibilities, who can fulfill their roles and responsibilities as an effective and efficient member of the multidisciplinary health team, and who can do all of these in accordance with professional ethical principles.
