Midwifery, one of the oldest professions in human history and one of the indispensable professions for society with the important mission it has undertaken, has existed together with humans. In order to draw attention to the importance of the midwifery profession as it is an indispensable profession for the future of society, April 21-28 is celebrated as Midwives Week in Turkey every year, and May 5th as World Midwives Day in the world. Midwives, who serve in every corner of the country, in villages, in cities and often under difficult conditions, provide care services to mothers and babies before, during and after birth.
On this meaningful day, Fırat University Midwifery Student Community invited our instructor Prof. Dr. Fatma Deniz SAYINER, who has made important contributions to midwifery, and aimed to raise awareness on this issue. In addition, valuable academic staff from İnönü University Faculty of Health Sciences Midwifery Department also participated in our event.
Prof. Dr. Fatma Deniz SAYINER graduated from health vocational high school and started working as a midwife in a hospital. During this period, she completed her undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education and advanced her academic career. She is currently the Dean of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Health Sciences. She is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Midwifery Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association. She is the Vice President of the Anatolian Midwives Association and the Natural Birth Association.
